Welcome to the World of Period Dramas

As you read my blog, dedicated to period dramas, you’ll find that my story began with Jane Austen and Pride and Prejudice. The goal for this blog is to discover more of our interest (period dramas) and have tons of fun in the process. I’m grateful for any feedback I get. I want everyone who comes to this page to enjoy it thoroughly but I know that is not always possible. However, any polite suggestions are greatly appreciated! I am eager to know how I can improve this page and make it more interesting. But please be aware, if you want to change everything, I think it would be good for you to know the best way make something exactly the way you want it is to do it yourself. In other words, why not get your own blog if you don’t like what you see here? But I am eager to discover more book and movies related to this topic so, please don’t be afraid to leave a comment telling me of your favorite period drama or a period drama that you don’t see here but thinks belongs. I am a person and I can only go so fast so please be patient! There’s no way I’m going to be able to put ever period drama ever made on here but, I will promise to do my best. So, take off your shoes, kick back and relax, and welcome to the world where period dramas come to life!

Enjoy!

Thank You,

North & South

As the daughter of a middle-class clergy-man, Margaret Hale had enjoyed a privileged upbringing in rural southern England. When her father uproots the family to take work in the northern mill town of Milton Margaret is shocked by the dirt, the noise, and the gruffness of the people, but she reserves her highest contempt for the charismatic mill-owner John Thornton. Will she ever learn the ways of the North and will she find herself tolerating—-or even loving-—this rough, mill owner?

All I can say is: Well done Heather! and thank you so much for letting me use this video! This song is so passonate and don't even get me started talking on the movie! Anyway, see for yourself! I think this video shows North and South in three minutes better than anything else I have ever seen! If you love period dramas you have been derprived it you have not seen BBC's North and South.

Hey! I love your blog, you have almost all of my favorites. And my all-time fav North & South. I've been on the fence about whether i preferred it to Pride and Prejudice, and I'm sorry to say p&p lost by a tiny bit. I think Mr. Thornton is the epitome of what Mr. Darcy is and I also think that the story is a bit deeper as far as the class struggle theme behind the actual love story. One of my all time favorite books, and def my favorite period drama. I can't wait to see what you do next. Might I suggest the Cathrine Cookson Anthology? Cheers!
